Dalian's Commodity Exchange signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the China Gas Association (CGA) on gas futures research, on May 31, Dalian Daily has reported, whereby the two do research on national gas varieties and market trends to better services the industry and provide risk solutions for gas companies.
The idea of building a national gas exchange has been on China's agenda since it came up with the 12th Five-year Plan for gas and experts suggest that China accelerate work its gas futures market, since Japan has opened a Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) exchange and Singapore is working on one.
The Dalian Commodity Exchange trades in four futures products -- linear low density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, coke, and coking coal -- with iron ore and polypropylene to be added soon.
