China LNG Plant Capacity To Double in 2014

China is expected to raise liquefied natural gas processing capacity by 30 million cubic metres per day in 2014, adding the country’s total LNG production capacity to 67 million cubic metres/day.

Sources said about 76 small LNG trains have announced to start operation this year, some of which are located in southwestern China.

The new capacity to be brought on stream in 2014 more than doubles that in 2013, when only 12.33 million cubic metres/day new capacity started operation.

Sources said that LNG processing capacity in the southwestern Chinese provinces this year will hit 6 million cubic metres, up from 2.88 million cubic metres now. The largest plant, operated by Huayou in Guangyuan city with capacity of 1 million cubic metres will be put online at the end of February.
