China, the world's second largest oil consumer after the U.S., imported 23.08 million metric tons of crude oil in April this year, 3.68% more than that in the same month of last year, according to the latest figures from China's General Administration of Customs.
The crude oil imports last month were 0.13% more than in March.
The country saw its imports of oil products reach 3.89 million metric tons and its exports of oil products hit 2.67 million metric tons.
In the first four months of this year, the country's imports of crude oil totalled 92.03 million metric tons, down 0.9% YoY.
In 2012, the country imported 271.09 million metric tons of crude oil, 7.3% more than in 2011. The country saw its dependence on imported oil rise to 56.4%, according to an earlier report from China Knowledge.
