Crude Oil to Be Exported to China via Bayankhoshuu-Uvdug Port

The regular meeting of Government discussed the issue of exporting crude oil extracted at the 19th field of Toson-Uul and 21st field of Tamsag in Khalkhgol and Matad Soums of Dornod Province via Bayankhoshuu-Uvdug port located at the border of Mongolia and China.

Currently, crude oil is exported to China in numerous stages. The oil is transported from its extracted field to Bichig port in Erdenetsagaan soum of Sukhbaatar Province, where it crosses the border of Mongolia and is transported by vehicle to Rashaant Crude Oil Receiving in Erenhot, China, and finally reaches the oil processing plant in Hohhot via pipelines.

The government has decided to permanently operate Bayankhoshuu-Uvdug port and export crude oil to China from this port to reduce and simplify the stages of transport.

Also, 210.7 km of paved road will be constructed between the 19th field of Toson-Uul and Bayankhoshuu port, which lies on the border of the two countries. Not only will transportation be able to meet projected timeframes, but the amount of dust kicked up from unofficial roads being carved out in different directions will be prevented.

The government has also planned to import the oil processed in China through the east and west border ports of Mongolia.
