China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) has begun producing from its Qikou 18-1 oilfield adjustment project off eastern China.
The Beijing-headquartered state player is adding two production platforms and a processing facility to the shallow-water field, which lies in the western part of the hydrocarbon-rich Bohai Bay.
CNOOC said the expansion would reach peak production next year, without disclosing its targeted output.
“The commencement of this project will further improve the production and overall processing capability of the field and make the development of this field more effectively,” the explorer said.
