China Small-Mid Scale LNG World Forum 2013 (SMLNG 2013), to be held on March 28 at Marco Polo Parkside, Beijing, is the first ever event organized by The Oriental Pro-Energy Consulting Organization (Topco) & WorleyParsons, with strong support from National Development and Reform Commission, China National Energy Administration and Ministry of Land and Resources. The event is also applauded by the industry participants. Companies that have helped steer the event and provided technical assistance include CNOOC Energy and Technology Services (CETS), Shaanxi Gas Design Institute, China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corp., Shell, Total, PetroChina, Sinopec, TGE, Linde, Chemtex and GTT. SMLNG 2013 is expected to attract about 200 delegates from government offices, LNG project stake holders, EPC contractors, designers, technology, equipment and service suppliers.

 

Highlight 1: Co-organized With WorleyParsons

 

The event is jointly organized by Topco and WorleyParsons, the latter of which is the largest international engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) service provider in China. Wang Yingjun, General Manager of Small-mid Scale LNG Business from WorleyParsons China will share his insights on modular design of small-mid scale LNG facility in the Technical Session.

 

Highlight 2: Strong PetroChina Presence

 

China’s top gas producer PetroChina has registered more than 20 delegates to attend the event. They are senior executives in charge of LNG business from its gas units including China Petroleum Engineering & Construction Corporation, China Kunlun Contracting & Engineering, China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering, China Petroleum Engineering and PetroChina Northeast Refining & Chemicals Engineering. They will shed lights on their project experiences and offer businesses opportunities to other conference goers.

 

Highlight 3: CNOOC’s Case Study of China’s First Small LNG Carriers

 

CNOOC, via its LNG shipping outfit CNOOC Energy and Technology Services (CETS), is fabricating China’s first small LNG tankers in order to ship the clean fuel to small towns and cities along the inner rivers and those inaccessible to pipeline gas. The new initiative is amid a construction boom for smaller LNG terminals in order to accommodate the logistics of the gas distribution. 12 such small-scale LNG terminals as well as 55 LNG bunkering facilities along the eastern and southern seaboard and inner rivers are understood to be planned by CNOOC-led gas market developers. At SMLNG 2013, CETS will share its experience on small LNG carrier fabrication.

 

Highlight 4:  Complimentary Copy of China Small-Mid Scale LNG Projects Map

 

SMLNG 2013 participants will receive a complimentary copy of wall map of China’s small LNG trains and terminals, specifying their locations, capacities, investment, owners and current status. China’s first, the map is based on the data Topco independently has confirmed with project developers.

 

Highlight 5: Corollary Equipment of Valve Session

 

The organizers of SMLNG 2013 have arranged a special session focusing on LNG valve technology and LNG valve localization. At the event, Fangzheng Valve Group will share thoughts on sealing performance of cryogenic ball valve, and SANBORA will touch upon how valve industry provides a system solution for small-mid scale LNG projects.

 

Highlight 6: Focus On LNG-fueled Vessels

 

China’s gas utilization policy gives priority to use LNG to power vehicles. The new trend has spurred a country-wide campaign to retrofit the existing vehicles so as to fuel on LNG. LNG-fueled vessels have become a new focus for CNPC, Sinopec and CNOOC as well as other gas companies. The subject will be sufficiently dealt with at the event. Guanghui, Kunlun Energy, CNOOC, ENN Energy and Green Energy are particularly interested in this session. Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering and AVIC Dingheng Shipbuilding will join in panel discussion, while Rolls-Royce has confirmed participation as a sponsor.

Highlight 8: Concurrent Event of ShaleTech China 2013

 

Companies or delegates to the SMLNG 2013 will enjoy a 20% discount for ShaleTech China 2013, which will be held concurrently at the same venue. The government encourages liquefaction of shale gas at marginal fields. The ongoing large scale shale gas development in China will be another driver for small LNG project development. The country aims to produce 6.5 billion cubic metres of the unconventional gas by 2015, a volume further to be ballooned to 100 Bcm in 2020.
