OTTO - Offshore SC 69 Exploration

Project Status:

As of July 2009, Lundin Norway AS has been granted consent to conduct exploration drilling in the southern part of the North Sea with the mobile facility Songa Dee. The consent applies to drilling of exploration well 16/1-12 which belongs to production license 338. A sidetrack might also be drilled.

According to the plan, the drilling activity is to start at the end of June 2009 and the activity has a planned duration of 74 days, including well testing.

As of July 2009, Lundin Petroleum AB has announced that its independent reserves auditor Gaffney, Cline and Associates (GCA) has assigned 95 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMboe) of gross Proven and Probable (2P) reserves to the Luno field located in production license PL338, offshore the Norwegian North Sea. 

The reserves have been evaluated based on the results of the discovery well 16/1-8 drilled in late 2007, the appraisal well 16/1-10 completed early 2009 and the initial interpretation of the seismic ocean bottom cable survey (OBS) acquired in 2008.

Lundin Petroleum will be drilling a further exploration well in PL338 in the third quarter 2009.

The conceptual development studies for the Luno field are ongoing with an objective to submit a development plan by end 2010.

As of July 2009, Lundin Petroleum AB (Lundin Petroleum)  announced that drilling of the exploration well 16/1-12 on the Luno extension prospect located in Block PL 338, in the North Sea sector of the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), has commenced.

Drilling is expected to take approximately 55 days, excluding possible testing.

As of September 2009, Lundin Petroleum AB has successfully completed the drilling of exploration well 16/1-12 on the Luno Extension prospect located in Block 16/1, PL 338, in the Norwegian North Sea. The exploration well was targeting the hydrocarbon potential south of the Luno discovery, made in the same license in 2007.

The well did not encounter the pre Cretaceous reservoir of the Luno discovery but a complex reservoir of fractured basement. Further work will be required to determine the resource potential and commerciality of this discovery. 

An extensive data acquisition program was carried out on this well, including coring and several mini drill stem tests (DSTs) with the successful recovery of hydrocarbon samples. (Topco)
