Project Status:
Total plans to resume exploration operations on Block CA-1, with a drilling campaign expected to start within a short period of time based on the seismic studies already performed.
Malaysia’s national oil and gas company Petronas will have an active role in the development of the block although the terms and conditions of the agreement were still being discussed. The contractors and support services for the joint exploration and production project will come from Sabah and Sarawak as well as from the Peninsula Malaysia.
Total plans to commence the Environment Baseline Survey offshore that will entail sea bottom and sea water sampling as well as surveying with and underwater video camera.
For the CA-1 campaign, Total hired the new ultra-deep water semi-submersible Ensco 8504 for a minimum of three exploration wells over at least 180 days at a dayrate of $423,500.
Sep 2010 Total signed a Deed of Amendment (DOA) with Petroleum Brunei.
Dec 2010 Malaysia sealed a joint oil and gas exploration deal with Brunei for Block CA-1.
Dec 2010 The exploration campaign amounts to around $400 million.
