North Energy ASA has entered into an agreement with Wintershall Norway ASA for acquisition of a 10% share in production license 370.
Drilling of the 370 Kakelborg prospect is planned for the first quarter of 2012 with the rig Transocean Arctic. The purchase of Kakelborg means that North Energy has eight commitment wells In the period 201-2012.
Wintershall Norge ASA (Wintershall) has received consent to carry out exploration drilling of well 33/6-4 with the Borgland Dolphin (mid-water semisub) mobile facility.
Well 33/6-4 belongs to production license 370 in the northern part of the North Sea, and is located approx. 111 miles (178 kilometers) west of the supply base outside Florø.
The drilling operation will start in mid-May at the earliest and has an estimated duration of 46 days.
JV partner North Energy announced that an exploration well was spudded on the Kakelborg oil prospect in production license PL370 in the northern part of Norway's North Sea sector shared with Cairn Energy's subsidiary and others. This prospect is close to existing infrastructure north-west of the Statfjord and Snorre fields.
The well is being drilled by the Borgland Dolphin rig, and plans call for it to reach its total measured depth in the first half of August 2012.
The Kakelborg well is the first of four planned wells with North Energy involvement over the next six months starting from July 2012. The next well in line is planned to be drilled in the third quarter of 2012 on the Jette gas/condensate prospect in PL 385 in the Norwegian Sea, with Statoil as operator.
