Project Status
The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has granted consent to Det norske Oljeselskap ASA (Det norske) for exploration drilling of well 7/11-13 with the Mærsk Guardian jack-up rig.
The well is located in the southern part of the Norwegian sector of the North Sea and is part of production license PL 497 (Geite), where Det norske is the operator.
The well is a wildcat well and, if a discovery is made, it may be relevant to drill a sidetrack well. The PL 497 was awarded in APA 2009.
Drilling is estimated to last 80 days, and up to 135 days if a sidetrack well is drilled. The earliest start-up is the beginning of September.
Det norske oljeselskap has started drilling at the Geite prospect in the Norwegian North Sea, according to well partner Bridge Energy.
Geite is the third exploration well of a four-well programme being drilled by Bridge this year, with drilling under way at Garantiana off Norway and Contender off the UK.
Bridge Energy announced that through its wholly owned subsidiary Bridge Energy Norge it has completed the agreement with Agora Oil & Gas which is 100% owned by Cairn Energy, for the farm-down of a 15% working interest in production license PL497 on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
Agora, will as a consideration for the transaction carry a substantial share of Bridge's well cost.
The licenses contain the Geite Prospect, which will be tested by the ongoing exploration well 7/11-13.
Det norske oljeselskap is about to complete drilling operations on the Geite Prospect in the North Sea.
Geite is located northwest of the Ula field. Triassic reservoir sandstones were encountered, but without hydrocarbons. Det norske has completed the drilling operation, and the well will now be plugged and abandoned.
